So I’m probably oversharing now but I like oversharing. I think it helps you get the real human. You?
I’m actually dictating this into my Notes app while I have a bath (I did warn you). You see, I realised I was supposed to write this email yesterday, being Friday, but all day yesterday, Friday, I thought it was Thursday (yes I know now it’s Sunday to you, but it’s Saturday as I write)…
I’ll just get on with it.
I really am going to keep this one shorter than usual because the reason I’m in the bath is that I’m off to my brother's to see his new garden this afternoon. Finally, in Manchester, we are being blessed with some consistent good weather, which after Italy especially, is a real blessing. I’m not sure my head would have coped with coming home to cold and rain. Grateful.
So this email is largely about YOU and your feedback. I am really keen to know what you would like me to provide you with to really help you see and feel more happiness in your day to day.
While I was away, I was extremely creative. As I mentioned in last week's email, I will be hosting an in-person day local to Manchester in November, and I will be hosting a retreat in Sorrento in 2025. More details of this will come as plans are solidified. But all I can tell you is they will be based around happiness, and I make a promise to you that joining me at one (or both!) will create a lasting, positive shift in your life. Watch this space…
But as for right now, I have a burning desire to help you with the things that are most challenging for you at this moment in time. I wonder if you might tell me, via replying to this email, what you would find most useful.
My thoughts are as follows, but please, if you have any further ideas, do let me know. I’m open to everything, and my real pleasure is to give you what you really, really need.
These will be shorter things I can give to you free of charge, to set you off on this journey, really feeling into how these practices can change your life. My wish is that by experiencing the shifts these simple practices create, you will be as excited to delve deeper as I was at the start of my journey!
Here are some of the initial ideas I have (let me know your thoughts):
- A small, down-to-earth audio recording to calm you down in times of anxiety or stress. This would be a short recording you can put on whenever and wherever you are that will flick you back into your calming parasympathetic nervous system (the nervous system we are in when we feel relaxed - rest and digest as it’s also known, as opposed to the sympathetic nervous system which is where we sit in fight or flight in times of stress or anxiety).
- A free document to help you understand all about your limiting beliefs and why they are getting in the way of you being where you want to be. You would be guided through the process and able to fill it in, to actively rewrite the limiting beliefs you have about yourself and what you are capable of. This will help you reframe them into positive factual statements based on things you have actually achieved, so you can disprove those limiting beliefs once and for all right there in front of you. This is a powerful practice that really helps you move forward in life.
- And this one will definitely be launching very soon! How do you fancy joining me online around noon, once a week, to do a rest and re-energise 20-minute session in your lunchtime? This would be an easy, practical session, using yoga nidra (no, it does not require you to move, bend, or chant!). No sitting on a hill cross-legged, just being able to put headphones in and close your eyes wherever you are, to reenergize yourself for the afternoon. (I won’t tell if you lock yourself in a toilet cubicle for the occasion. In fact, I won’t even know because I won’t be able to see you!)
My genuine wish is to provide you with the tools and strategies you can use forevermore to keep on feeling more fulfilment and genuine soul-level inner peace and happiness in your life. You will never feel happy all the time; human beings come with a range of emotions, and it’s important we feel and honour all of those emotions. But tools to help you manage them, I’m a massive advocate for.
I like to think of emotions as love notes to our minds guiding us in the right direction. When we learn to take the time to tune into our emotions, acknowledge the feelings, and allow them to be fully processed, our lives take on the most unbelievably positive trajectory. You can do this simply by using some of the small, simple and free tools that I am desperate to help you learn.
So I told you I would keep it shorter this week, and for once, I think I made it (just). Hurrah.
